Two Trains Running

Three Evenings of Song & Improvised Theatre (Works in Progress)

with

Annika Brown

Music from new acoustic songstress whose quirky songs evoke a range of worlds - some playful, some dark, but all telling the truth about what never happened.

  • Provocative solo spontaneous theatre.
  • Moving from energetic, playful action, in leaps and bounds, to the most delicate, intimate exchange.
  • The work is embodied by striking visual images, through use of movement, of joyful physicality and lyrical sensitivity.
  • Tools include use of narrative, characterization, archetypes, intuition and metaphor, alongside a strongly held intention to create the time and space for emotions to emerge.
  • Seeking a responsive relationship with the audience, asking them to risk journeying with me along the edge between the known and unknown.
  • (Improvised live music (from occasional accompanying musician), song and speech are used to create evocative aural landscapes.)

(Part-borrowed from a recently-produced work-in-progress description of this form of work).

Tiny snippet of this sort of playing that Jonathan gets up to in the ensemble Touch and Go, (previously Festival of Fools)).

NB This clip is a 7 min condensation of a 40 min rehearsal piece, and is hard to grasp the overall context (which happened to be that it was on Remembrance Sunday) or it's narrative thread.
